Designed to support Kiwi startups, the initiative aims to help businesses accelerate their growth through financial tools, networking opportunities, and access to exclusive perks.
Airwallex, a financial platform for modern businesses, has introduced its Airwallex for Startups program in New Zealand. Designed to support Kiwi startups, the initiative aims to help businesses accelerate their growth through financial tools, networking opportunities, and access to exclusive perks.
The program offers a range of benefits for eligible startups, including:
NZD $50,000 in free foreign exchange (FX), with no fees or margin on the first $50,000 in conversions.
1% cashback on international transactions made using Airwallex cards.
Guidance and perks from ecosystem partners, covering areas like accounting software, compliance tools, insurance, and employee share option plans.
Founders will also have the chance to win an NZD $10,000 Business Acceleration Grant.
The program, free and open to registered businesses with 2–100 employees, provides resources to help startups streamline their financial operations and scale more efficiently. It also includes educational content, networking opportunities, and access to experts, such as established founders and finance leaders.
Taylor Fox-Smith, Head of Airwallex for Startups in ANZ, emphasized the program’s focus on empowering startups through strong financial foundations and community support.
The initiative has already seen over 2,000 startups join since launching in Hong Kong in 2023 and is now available in New Zealand, Australia, and Singapore. It complements Airwallex’s growing product suite in New Zealand, which will soon include physical cards and payment acceptance, alongside existing services like FX, global accounts, and virtual cards.
New Zealand’s inclusion in the 2023 Global Startup Ecosystem Report’s top 20 ranking highlights the importance of supporting Kiwi businesses as they grow.
